About Fr. Joseph:

Father Joseph Dang was born in Vietnam - a country with a surprisingly rich Catholic heritage.  After escaping from Vietnam by
boat when he was 10 yrs old, he and his family settled in California.  He joined the Vietnamese monastery in Carthage, Missouri at the age of 15.

Father Dang left the congregation and joined Springfield Cape Girardeau Diocese and became their seminarian at the time of his High School graduation.  He attended the seminary, earned his Licenciate of Theological Study, and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Joseph J. Gouthro on Sept. 5, 2002.

His first assignment was to serve as a Religious Advisor (Chaplain) at the University of Kansas (KU), Lawrence, Kansas. While serving there, he became an active leader of the community through his ministry.  He founded the Asian Community Center, where he helped many people of Asian decent with their social needs.

Following the hurricane Katrina disaster, he offered his assistance to the community of Biloxi, MS, and was able to relocate several affected families.

Fr. Joseph continues his ministry today in good standing, with full faculties and direction under by Bishop Gouthro.

Fr. Joseph is particularly concerned with helping those who remain Catholic but find difficulty in the practice of their faith.  He promises to be a welcoming, friendly face who can bring healing and restore individuals, couples, and families in the Catholic tradition.
